In November 2006, Dr. W. A. Bashir (Great Britain - Consultant Musculoskeletal (MSK) & Trauma Radiologist) as the leader of a team of Researchers presents the results of a study they conducted about the effect of different siting positions on the spine to the Annual Meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA).
Research findings demonstrate that not only slouching is bad, but also sitting in an upright position places unnecessary strain on your back, leading to potentially chronic pain problems if you spend long hours sitting. " Sitting in a sound anatomic position is essential, since the strain put on the spine and its associated ligaments over time can lead to pain, deformity and chronic illness." says Dr. Bashir.
An unexpected result
The result of the research clearly demonstrated that a 135 degree body-thigh sitting posture is the best bio-mechanical sitting position, as opposed to a 90-degree posture, which most people consider normal.
Mrs. Ulli Neumüller
Ulli Neumüller is a physiotherapist specialised in Tuina, a traditional form of massage in Chinese Medicine. She came upon this massage technique while seeking an effective form of therapy for her own persistent back problems. Fascinated not only by the results of the treatment, but also by the diagnosis methods using Tongue and Pulse Reading, she completed a 3 years training course in Tuina Massage in 2004. Since then, she continually deepened her knowledge of Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). She is qualified in Manual Spine Therapy, Tuina massage for children and Physio-Acupuncture. In her practice, she treats the Musculo-Skeletal system as well as problems related to imbalance in bodily functions.
She teaches "Chinese Health Gymnastics " at the Volkshochschule, Linz since 2008, and also gives workshops and talks about the importance of a holistic approach to spinal problems in terms of prevention and regeneration.
“In my practice as Tuina Therapist I regularly treat patients suffering from spine related problems. In the past, those affected where mostly elderly people and their condition was usually the result of heavy work or simply age-related. This is no more the case since unfortunately the number of much younger patients has dramatically risen. Increased school and study times, long hours of work on computers and lack of exercise are partly responsible for this unfortunate development. Our spine simply cannot cope with this rapid lifestyle change. Daily in my practice, my experience corroborates that problems related to the spine are not only age or weight related!” affirm Ulli Neumüller.
She further state: "As I experienced it, the use of the hammock CLOUD35 has a real prevention potential, due to both body and mind relaxation effect!”

The summer in Denmark is short and we love to stay outside as much as possible, so naturally we like hammocks.
I thought I knew what a hammock was until I tried the hammock CLOUD135 … I just fell in love! To sit and hang out in this hammock is wonderfully comfortable. Even with my very bad back, I can hang in for hours! More than a hammock, the CLOUD135 is actually a beautiful piece of ergonomic hanging furniture and I use it as much in winter in my house as I do outside in summer.
If it is good for me, it is certainly good for my yoga students and Stressbuster clients as well. So i just had to take some of this hammock to my Yoga Studio for them! Everybody with back problems can enjoy this very innovative design of hammocks and relax.
